Hist/Bio Note
The Church of England, the established Church, played a role in shaping the 1967 Sexual Offences Act which decriminalized homosexuality. However, its seemingly progressive stance were overshadowed by later debates on homosexuality in the 1970s. It does not bless same sex unions or ordain non-celibate homosexual priests . The Anglican Communion has struggled to unite provinces across the globe since the 1990s.
