Contained within the International Gay Information Center Archives of the New York Public Library are 181 individual subject headings under the category of religion. These files contain newsletters, pamphlets, and other ephemerea. The collection contains 29 Diginity chapter files, 18 Integrity chapter files, 13 files related to Jewish organizations, and 33 Metropolitan Community Church chapter files. The remaining 93 subject files provide a panorama of LGBT religious affiliation. Examples of the breadth of the collection include: AMerican Baptists Concerned (CA), Centre du Christ Liberateur (FR), Committee of Friends on Bisexuality (NYC), Beth Ahavah (Philadelphia, PA), Jewish Gay Group (UK), Lambda Christian Fellowship (CA), Wingspan (MN), Other Sheep (MO), Psychedelic Venus Church (CA), Rajneesh, Kinship, Tayu Order (CA), United Faith Affinitos Church of Chicago, and Zen Buddhism.

Hist/Bio Note

The International Gay Information Center (IGIC) was incorporated in 1982 as a successor to the History Committee of the Gay Activists Alliance. The groups acquired organizational records, personal papers, periodicals, books, audiovisual materials, and ephemera from many sources. Thie IGIC Archives operated as a community-based repository until 1988 when the board donated the collection to the New York Public Library.
