This collection includes textual records, photographs, electronic records and artifacts related to Jade Pichette’s life and work. Contains materials related to their queer/trans inclusive anti-oppression activism, social work, and consulting, their bachelors degree and masters of social work, and personal records. Includes press clippings, print-outs of websites and newsletters, books, workshop materials, copies of articles, journals, meeting minutes, press releases, programs, booklets, zines, flyers, business cards, personal papers, photo IDs, name tags, color and black and white photographs, photo negatives, CDs, DVDs, electronic records and electronic photographs, buttons, wristbands, bandanas handbags, condom kits, a plastic bottle, a mug, a backpack, a document organizer, and a lanyard.
Hist/Bio Note
Jade Pichette (1986-) is a queer trans anti-oppression social worker, consultant, activist and priestess based in Toronto. They are the director of programs at Pride at Work Canada, the co-host of the Uncovering Belonging Podcast, and a co-author of Transitioning Employers: A survey of policies and practices for trans inclusive workplaces. Since 2004, Pichette has provided freelance services as an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) educator and consultant, organizing anti-oppression and LGBT+ inclusion workshops for organizations in Toronto, Ottawa and Guelph. Pichette completed a Bachelor of Social Work degree at Carleton University in 2010 with highest honors, and in 2013 they earned a Masters of Social Work at Toronto Metropolitan University, where they wrote their research paper “Passing Through Divinity: An Anti-Oppressive Window into Trans Women and Religion.” They were a co-founder of Trans Youth Ottawa, where they worked as a facilitator from 2004-2009 From 2014 through 2018, they were the Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator at The ArQuives. In 2018, Pichette became the first trans-feminine person to present at the Parliament of World Religions, and in 2021 they were named one of Toronto Metropolitan University’s Pride Champions.
