Rev. Elder Diane Fisher
Biography
Rev. Elder Diane Fisher is the regional elder for Region 5 of the Metropolitan Community Churches which includes eastern Canada, the northeastern U.S. and eastern Europe. Diane has been an MCC member for twenty plus years. She has served as the Chair of the Women’s Secretariat and Canada’s Ecumenical and Interfaith Liaison, and locally, she pastored Free To Be MCC in Belleville for ten years. She also served as a District Coordinator for Eastern Canada and the Northeast District before being elected to serve in region 5.
During her time as an elder she has worked to strengthen local churches, support pastors, and to stand in solidarity with and work in Eastern Europe with the LGBTQ communities. Her work as a human rights activist has been instrumental in the fight for LGBTQ rights in the former Soviet-occupied world. She sits on the MCC’s Global Justice Team, the Ecumenical and Interfaith Team and is the liaison elder to MCC’s Disability Forum.
Rev. Elder Fisher is a Canadian living in the United States. She is legally married to her partner Judi and has a daughter, Karli whose fathers are two gay men. Her passion is making a difference in the world.
