The collection contains materials pertaining to her books, On My Honor: Lesbians Reflect on Their Scouting Experience and Lesbian Nuns: Breaking the Silence. It also includes photographs and negatives, magazines, flyers, promotional materials and newspaper clippings, correspondence and financial documents.
Hist/Bio Note
Nancy Manahan was born in southern Minnesota in 1946. She entered a convent after high school and at the age of 20 she recognized herself as a lesbian and left the convent. She earned her B.A. in English in 1969 from the University of Minnesota and her M.A. from the University of Illinois. After teaching in Africa and California she returned to Minnesota to teach English at Rochester Community College and Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
Nancy Manahan co-authored Lesbian Nuns: Breaking Silence, co-authored with Rosemary Keefe Curb (1985).
