Description
The Lewallen Family Papers consist of research files collected by the Lewallens on the Methodist church and homosexuality, hate mail, newsletters, and audio recordings from PFLAG meetings.
Hist/Bio Note
Elinor Grace Kirby Lewallen and her husband, Thomas Monroe Lewallen, were involved with the Denver chapter of the Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) and volunteered in leadership roles within the Methodist Church. Elinor Lewallen served on the Sexual Ministries Task Force of the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church and received the President’s Award for Distinguished Service to Church and Society from the Iliff School of Theology in 2000.
