Hist/Bio Note
In 1988 a resolution to the General Conference recommended the establishment of a study committee for gay and lesbian issues. The resolution was amended at General Conference to charge the General Council on Ministries to create a Committee to Study Homosexuality. The purpose of the committee was to study homosexuality as a subject for theological and ethical analysis; to seek the biological, psychological, and sociological information and opinion on the nature of homosexuality, and to explore the implication of its study for the Social Principles. The Committee presented a report to the 1992 General Conference.
