Description

This collection consists of Jeff Trollinger's personal papers documenting the activities of the Richmond diocese's Sexual Minorities Commission and Other Voices Chorus and also includes four scrapbooks of clippings. The organizational materials including minutes, correspondence, membership files, brochures and flyers, policy and incorporation materials, and other assorted records created or acquired in the course of the organizations' operations. The scrapbooks hold clippings of news articles relating to the LGBTQ rights and the community's representation in religious organizations.

Hist/Bio Note

Jeff Trollinger was an active member of the Richmond Catholic diocese's Sexual Minorities Commission as well as Other Voices, a gay and lesbian chorus based in Richmond. He served as vice-chair of Sexual Minorities Commission from 2000 to 2002 and served as chair of the commission from 2002 to 2004. The commission was established in 1977 by Bishop Walter F. Sullivan to reach out to gay and lesbian parishioners, and it was dissolved in 2004 by Francis DiLorenzo, the newly appointed bishop of the Richmond diocese. Mr. Trollinger was also a member of Other Voices, and he was made president of the steering committee in 1999. As of 2017, Trollinger was serving on the Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church parish council.
